2016-17 Marching Band Calendar
The Amelia Rhythm in Blue Marching Band
The Rhythm in Blue Marching Band was re-established at Amelia High School in 2010 as a show band, taking on the styles of The Ohio State University Marching Band and the Ohio University Marching 110. The Marching Band consists of band students grades 8-12, as well as color guard members who may not be enrolled in a band. Students do not have to be in Marching Band to be in Concert Band, but all Marching Band members must be enrolled in Concert Band, with the exception of color guard members.
As a co-curricular activity, students in Marching Band receive credit for participation in this class which meets entirely outside of the school day. Marching Band begins with band camp the last week of July and first week of August, which all participants are required to attend. Students enrolled in at least two years of marching band can also earn exemption for the Amelia High School gym requirement. Once school starts, the Marching Band rehearses two times per week and performs at pre-game and halftime of all home football games, as well as parades and other events throughout the season.
The Marching Band is one of the most visible organizations at Amelia High School. Each year, the band entertains hundreds of people at football games, basketball games, and parades.
Most importantly, the band is fun! Each year, the Marching Band is recognized as one of the most fun parts of the school year among our students and parents. The students share a camaraderie and sense of purpose that enhance their high school experience. Our students make friends and build relationships that last a lifetime!
